"Here then is a definitive statement of the art of Nihon Goshin Aikido coming directly from one of its most knowledgeable practitioners. I know that it will be an essential resource not only for students of NGA but also for martial artists of any style anywhere in the world."
"Living an integral life means “getting it together” and being “together” rather than being and feeling fragmented. It means thinking, feeling and acting always out of the certainty of your wholeness and never acting out of a sense of disconnection or lack."
Integral/Transpersonal Counseling and Life Coaching
If your experience of life includes:
- Relationship Issues
- Feelings of Emptiness
- Meaninglessness or lack of direction
- Feeling fragmented....
Envision yourself living with:
We are not fragmented beings, we are holistic beings, and our “whole-ness” is greater than the sum of its parts.
Integral adj. Whole; Complete; Unified; Possessing everything essential for completeness; A holistic view of human consciousness.
Transpersonal adj. Transcending the personal or individual. A mental experience beyond the usual limits of the ego and personality level of consciousness.
Integral/Transpersonal (I/T) counseling and life coaching addresses the evolution and development of the totality of human consciousness by focusing on and exploring the integration of body, mind, emotion and spirit. It is designed to enhance self-awareness skills and strategies that will facilitate not only personal growth and self-improvement on an individual basis, but also in the contexts of family, community and the planet at large.
The purpose of conventional psychotherapy and psychiatry is simply to bring a person who is in a serious state of mental and emotional disturbance to a level of adequate functionality again. It addresses the body and mind, but does not minister to the heart and soul.
The goal of I/T counseling is to help people move beyond mere functionalityto a space of more expanded meaning, direction and fulfillment. Not to go through each day colorlessly, just "turning the crank," but to live with enthusiasm, creativity ... and joy.
The emphasis of I/T counseling is on those states and processes which support people in experiencing a more expanded sense of who they are, a sense of greater connectedness with others, nature, and the spiritual dimension. It facilitates the development of higher levels of consciousness so that one may discover one's ownPath with Heartand actualize the principle of Right Action in Daily Living.Transcending the level of the persona (conventional mental-egoic attitudes and behaviors) that we ordinarily experience ourselves as being and which we present to the world as the “mask” we wear, we move beyond these limitations to higher and more expansive modes of consciousness, to discover the truth of who and what we truly are.
I/T counseling addresses all four of the core modalities or quadrants of human existence and consciousness: Physical; Mental; Emotional; and Spiritual. My theoretical foundations are in the principles ofKen Wilber’s Integral Theory, Jean Liedloff’s Continuum Concept, Zen, Transpersonal Psychology, EEG Neurotherapy and Aikido. My task is the self-empowerment of my clients, working to guide them in establishing their own Integrative Transformational Pathway, a program of concepts, techniques and exercises that resonate with them and will accelerate their progress toward healing and transformation. In our discussions, I help them to understand the issues that are creating distress and preventing them from being all they are capable of being, and how to change them so as to open their lives to joy, love and abundance. The A-B-C of Mindfulness meditation is one of the essential spiritual practices I teach from the first meeting.
Frequently, however, an intellectual understanding and discussion of one’s issues is not adequate to resolve the Shadow issues– the negative belief systems, emotional reactions, and destructive behavior patterns that we are still carrying with us from the past and are dragging us down. In those situations I use the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), developed by Gary Craig, as a therapeutic tool to help accelerate the release and resolution of these long-standing emotional issues. EFT is an integral and essential element of my counseling and personal performance coaching. It is an extremely simple, elegant and powerful procedure that yields rapid relief from all types of negative psychological and emotionally-based physical conditions, including, but not limited to, anxiety, phobias, PTSD, addictions and depression. It is also self-administered, so clients can bring this skill home with them and use it themselves any time they require rapid relief from daily stresses and emotional upsets. For more detailed information on this wonderfully effective healing technique, please see my Fundamentals of EFT tutorial and chart, and also visit EFT Universe.
I have always guided my therapeutic work by observing the ancient Chinese Taoist proverb: “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and he feeds himself for life.” Your self-empowerment and transformation - teaching you “how to fish”- is my mission and commitment.
